The progression of the Eastern Softball team should be fascinating to watch this year. The team returns only four players from last year’s playoff team, while welcoming nine first-year players to the squad. Janelle Fair, the lone senior on the team, and a first team all conference selection last season, is optimistic about the team’s influx of young talent. “We have a lot of talent, young energy and spunk which means we play with a lot of heart and passion,” says Fair. “Every girl on our team wants to play and strives to get better and with that outlook, we’ll win games.” Sophomore Emily Houck says, “I think the returners we do have are the type of people who will lead well and bring the younger ones along quickly.”
