SOFTBALL

The girls on the softball team have worked hard to climb their way to the top of the PACs. Now they are in the fifth-seed of the standings, thanks to their double win on April 19 against Cedar Crest. Despite their doubleheader loss to Misercordia, the Lady Eagles still have a chance against Gwynedd-Mercy on April 30 at 4 p.m.

Junior shortstop Alissa Brubaker currently holds the highest batting average of .351, closely followed by sophomore Stephanie Weaver at .343 and first-year Megan Favazza at .337. With a conference record of 12-9 and a total team average of .304, it is no wonder they have gotten as far as they have.

Head Coach Mark Ambler is proud of the work the team accomplished this season.

“They’ve come together as a team – and that’s what we want,” he said.

BASEBALL

Eastern’s baseball team’s shot at the PAC playoffs ended with a split win against Marywood Saturday April 26. They closed their season with a record of 8-10 and a team batting average of .280.

Even though their season closed earlier thea expected, the Eagles have had one of the best seasons in their history. The fact that they ended with a one point loss in the last inning against Marywood attests to that.

Senior shortstop Davis Murray grabbed the top batting average of .393. Senior Mike Santello and sophomore Ryan Doran took second and third with .343 and .342 respectively.

The baseball team played one last game against Wesley College on April 28 to end their season. A new start will begin for Eastern’s baseball once Eastern switches from the PAC to the MAC.

MEN’S TENNIS

Although the men’s tennis team put on a good show on April 15, their final regular conference match, they did not qualify for team championships. The impressive 9-0 win against Immaculata could not cancel out the team’s record of 2-5.

Captain Eric Walter lost in the first round of individual single tournament. Walter and Taylor Kiser then lost in the quarter final of doubles tournament to round up the men’s tennis season.
