Despite their early lead, Eastern’s women’s tennis team couldn’t pull together a last win in the Freedom Conference. They lost Friday’s match against the Misericordia Cougars 3-6, finishing with a conference record of 3-4.
After the first doubles match was dropped, Eastern came back and rallied to win their second and third doubles matches, gaining a lead of 2-1. Sophomore Lindsey Leh then brought the score to 3-1 with her singles win.
First-year Bekah Roland and junior Hannah Tobin fought hard in their singles matches but ended up falling in tiebreakers. The other three singles matches also went to the Cougars, and Eastern was eliminated from the team tournament.
However, head coach Mark Spangler still has high hopes for his players in the Freedom Individual Tournament next weekend.
“We’ve developed a good sense of team,” Spangler said.
