Eastern’s rivalry with next-door neighbor Cabrini took the court Saturday morning. Although it wasn’t a conference match, the Eagles played as hard as always and won 3-0 against the Cavaliers.

Before the start of the game, senior Mandy Platt was recognized for recording her 1,000th career dig which she achieved on Oct. 4th. First-year Courtney Reinhold led the Eagles with 14 kills, 8 digs and a hitting percentage of .476. Sophomore Nicole Burns followed with 9 kills and a .692 hitting percentage.

Head Coach Mark Birtwistle is still cautious, realizing that with a new conference comes new challenges.

“We’re not taking anything for granted,” Birtwistle said. “We’re treating every game like it’s against the team keeping us from the championship.”

The women’s volleyball team is now 21-1 on the season.
