Hidden Treasures: Schuylkill River Trail

The beautiful Schuylkill River Trail can be found approximately 10 minutes from Eastern’s campus. From the Valley Forge National Historical Park to Chestnut Street, Philadelphia, there is an extensive amount of paved trail to cover. In the Valley Forge area, however, there is still much to see.

The trail is open to bikers, hikers, roller-bladers, skaters and even the avid picnicker. A bike concession at Valley Forge Park Visitor’s Center offers bikes for rent at $10 an hour on weekends during the school year. With a paved trail, it is perfect for those who like to enjoy nature but typically do not enjoy wooded areas.

Though the beginning parts of the trail near campus are wildly sprinkled with developmental housing and office space, with patience and a short distance you will find yourself surrounded by the tranquil outdoors. The best part-it’s free to walk.
