Facebook both attracts and violates students

Nationwide, 85 percent of college students have Facebook accounts.

According to a survey done by political science professor Kathy Lee, approximately 68 percent of Eastern students have Facebook accounts.

Approximately 73 percent of students surveyed reported checking Facebook three or more times a day.

Over 66 percent of Facebooking students felt violated by the new mini-feed feature installed several weeks ago. Mini-feed posts random notes about a user’s Facebook activity on the home pages of the user’s Facebook friends.

Ninety-five percent of students appreciate the new privacy rule put in place on the revised Facebook. The privacy rule was installed to give students control over which of their activities, if any, get reported in the mini-feed.
