Nov. 7-9, Eastern hosted the 2008 National Christian Multicultural Student Leaders Conference. Over 400 students and advisers representing 30 different colleges were present. Visiting students shared rooms in dormitories with current Eastern students for the weekend.
The conference, titled “Faith Through Action: Bridging the Multicultural Gap One Student at a Time,” included panel discussions, workshops, speakers and times for worship (above). Among those speaking at the conference was Brian Johnson, director of multicultural affairs at Susquehanna University, and Reverend Luis Cotres, Jr., president and founder of Esperanza, the largest Hispanic faith-based evangelical network in the United States. Speakers from the Eastern community included Dr. Chris Hall, Professor Emeritus Tony Campolo and University Chaplain Joe Modica. The conference was a collaborative effort of Student Development, MAC and SAB.
