We are just a couple of days away from the beginning of another women’s basketball season. They kick off the season Nov. 14 against UMBC and then play the notorious school from across the street, Cabrini, on Nov. 17. This season should be exciting and interesting.

Eastern is ranked second in the Freedom Conference preseason poll. Last year, the Eagles made it to the conference semifinals after finishing the regular season with a 14-12 record and a 9-5 conference record. All signs are pointing to the Eagles having another good season.

The Eagles have four seniors returning this season: Meghan Nowak, Kaitlyn Doughetry, Kaleigh Boreman and Gina DiDomenico. They are all looking to lead their team to a successful season this year. This year, the Eagles look to possibly win the conference championship for the first time in school history. The last three years the Eagles made it to the conference semifinals but have yet to be able to make it to the conference championship yet. If Eastern can improve from last season, there is no reason to believe that they cannot win the conference championship.

Led by head coach Nate Davis, many players on the Eagles had really successful seasons last year. Meghan Nowak was first team All-Conference last season. Kaitlyn Dougherty and Gina DiDomenico were named to the second All-Conference team last year. Emily Lavin also had a successful season last year as she won rookie of the year for the conference. If all goes as planned, this could be a really great season for the Eagles. Look for Eastern to make a lot of noise this season and make a run at the conference championship and possibly a spot in the NCAA Tournament.
