Eastern to Host Faith on the Field Event: Eagles Discuss Faith and Sports

Presented by Eastern, the Faith on the Field radio show allows lovers of sports and God  to discuss the importance of including religion in an athletic setting.

Starting in April of this year, the Faith on the Field show has broadcasted on ESPN in conjunction with 610 AM sports from 7-8 p.m. Thursday nights. The show is hosted by author Rob Maaddi, Eastern alum and faculty member, Doug Horton, and pastor Phil Moser.

To the spokesmen of Faith on the Field, sports is a form of ministry– a call to use bodies to serve God in an activity. Even though their show is usually on the radio, they occasionally do live, in-person events. Just last year, Eastern hosted a taped Faith on the Field event that featured the Philadelphia Phillies’ pitchers Jerad Eickhoff and Jeanmar Gomez. This particular event brought over 400 people to Eastern’s campus.

The next Faith on the Field event on Eastern’s campus will happen Sept. 6 at 7:30 p.m. on the Olson field. This show will feature Philadelphia Eagles’ quarterback, Carson Wentz, and tight end Trey Burton. In this event, the National Football League players will discuss how faith impacts their role on the field.

On the Faith on the Field Show’s website, Rob Maaddi states that his motto is “make a difference; be a blessing,” and that is certainly what athletes around the world have the power to do.
