If you’re a fun human being like me, then you probably own stickers or at least admire them. Personally, I have an absolute ton of stickers, but some of my favorites are ones from the groups in which I am involved on campus. There are a lot of different groups on campus that have stickers, but sadly, I don’t have room to write about all of them, so here are some of my favorite ones!
One of our well-known campus locations that has amazing stickers is the Writing Center. This year, they have multiple stickers, all fantasy-themed, including a shield that says, “Proud Guild Member of the writing center,” a crystal ball that says, “demystify the writing process,” a sword or a wand that says, “average writing assistants tool,” a baby dragon lying on books that says, “No Hoarding Knowledge Here” and my favorite, a set of potions labeled “ingredients for your essay.”
Eastern’s marching band also has some great stickers for their members. Every year, the students get a new, unique sticker that represents the current show. They also get one of Eastern’s mascot, Beaker, in the marching band uniform with “Eastern University Marching Band” printed on it. Members of the marching band were encouraged to put their stickers on the large water jugs they received this year for band camp.
Online, you can also get custom stickers for each of the sports teams here at Eastern. These allow students to show pride for their specific team or even their friends’ teams. Other groups, such as the Goode Scholars and SGA, also show pride through stickers. The Goode Scholars have a circle sticker that includes the group name, and SGA has a circle sticker that includes the group name and the year it was founded.
Of course, we can’t forget our own Waltonian stickers: circles and squares advertising the 75th anniversary, along with ones picturing our iconic quill and ink pot with a newspaper background and one with the name and logo.
There are also a few departments and offices here at Eastern that have their own stickers for students, including the Communication Studies Department, the English Department and the Office of Faith and Practice.
These stickers are such a unique way for students to show pride in their community. They can be placed on water bottles, laptops, folders and any other places they’d like. It’s a great way to show off what groups you’re a part of on campus and maybe even see some groups you’d be interested in joining. What’s your favorite group sticker?
