Enactus Presents: Shark Tank

Enactus is excited to announce our 5th annual Shark Tank competition on April 7 at 7 p.m. in the McInnis Auditorium. Formerly known as SIFE, Enactus stands for “Entrepreneurial Action Us” which is a “community of student, academic and business leaders committed to using the power of entrepreneurial action to transform lives and shape a better more sustainable world” (enactus.org). Our Shark Tank event is very similar to the ABC television show where entrepreneurial students at Eastern University compete and present their business ideas to a panel of local business experts. Students contend for a cash prize in front of their peers during one of the largest and most popular on-campus events. Our three competitors selected are Jenna Evangelista, Brent Keath, and Somer Jordan.

Jenna Evangelista is the creator and owner of Max Running Co. which seeks to provide detailed, personal, and individualized training plans that maximize the potential of runners from all backgrounds. Jenna’s mission is to help her clients achieve their goals by creating a personalized, all-encompassing training plan and by giving the opportunity for communication throughout their training.

Brent Keath is presenting his newest endeavor, Flannel Games. This is a game developing company whose aim is to make board games that bring together the strategy of Euro-games with the fun of family games. The current project Flannel Games is working on is called Furtherance.

Somer Jordan is competing with her business, “Couture Crochet,” which provides luxuriously casual crocheted wear and decorum. While guaranteeing a customized fit, “Couture Crochet” brings about social change by enabling people to overcome poverty through providing them with crocheting skills, as well as potential employment, to afford them a sustainable way of living.

Spend your time wisely before entering the Shark Tank event! Come early for the Internship and Career Fair in McInnis Atrium from 5:30-6:30 p.m. Companies such as SEI, Vanguard, B Lab, TEK Systems, New York Life, and Come Unity are slated to represent, just to name a few. Come dressed professionally with resumes in hand. Ask questions, work on your networking skills, and possibly secure an internship or job! The Shark Tank will also be streamed live for those who are unable to attend. Follow us at @euenactus on Snapchat, Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram for more information.
