Despite being one of Eastern’s smallest athletic teams, men’s golf might just have more fun than anyone else.
“[Coach Birtwistle] makes sure it’s a care-free atmosphere,” junior Adam Rogers said.
Spring break in Virginia, hanging out on golf courses and slacks aside, this year’s golf team has a serious goal to win the PAC Championship. The team ended last season on a positive note, finishing fourth in the conference championship, and they look forward to carrying that momentum into this season.
Seniors Drew Krupp and Trevor Wampler along with juniors Jeff Loesser and Adam Rogers make up the nucleus of returning players from last year’s team.
The team has taken on a new training program this year in hopes of achieving their goals. Together they have teamed up with the company Body Balance to fine-tune their posture and swings. If the team can pull off a PAC Championship they’ll have one last road trip scheduled for California, the site of this year’s national championships.
“The goal is the west coast,” Rogers said. “We wanna go to California.”
