Eastern alumnus Shane Claiborne, author of The Irresistible Revolution and Jesus for President, spoke to students as part of a church service in McInnis auditorium on August 31. His message was directed towards students unsure of what they want to become. The “what are you going to do when you grow up” question can be bothersome, Claiborne said. He asked how Jesus might have responded to the question at an adolescent age and drew examples from friends who have taken unexpected paths to serving God.
“It’s not what you’re going to become, but what kind of engineer, entrepreneur, therapist you’re going to become,” Claiborne said in conclusion. “How can you be one who embodies the good news?”
