The Philadelphia Small College Basketball Coaches Association awarded senior men’s basketball player Matt Flanagan with the Sam Cozen award for the week ending Feb. 3.
Throughout that week, Flanagan set career records in both of Eastern’s games. Against rival Cabrini, Flanagan led a late overtime comeback with 20 points and then topped that with a 23 point game against Misercordia.
Flanagan is the first Eastern player to earn the award this year and the second in school history.
Flanagan was honored with a luncheon for his parents, coaches and local media.
“It was kinda cool because I got a free lunch,” Flanagan said about the award. “I never really got anything like that in college before.”
