The Lady Eagles’ Volleyball team is the #1 seed in the Freedom Conference and is currently placed #4 in the nation. Eastern proudly maintains a 30-2 record. Coach Mark Birtwistle looks to lead his team to his 14th Conference championship in his 22 years at the helm. The Eagles are undefeated within the Freedom Conference and look forward to another chance at the NCAA tournament. “I am excited to play the best competition in the MAC and hopefully winning the championship to continue playing in the regional playoffs,” said Junior Kelly Groff. With a good mixture of upper and underclassmen, Eastern volleyball will have an edge in the playoffs when it comes to experience. Seniors Mary Poole, Christi Schlager, Courtney Reinhold, Maria Horning and Nikki Kummerer have played in the NCAA tournament every year they been on Eastern’s team. “I’m excited to get back to the playoffs and work towards a national title” Sophomore Kearby Benak said. Come support the Eastern volleyball squad as they will host Del Val in the Freedom conference semifinals on Wednesday, November 2nd, at 7.
