New hours of use for gyms

Because of the theft of equipment and the continued use of athletic facilities by persons unrelated to Eastern University, Director of Security Jack Sheehan and Head Men’s Basketball Coach Matt Nadelhoffer were instructed by Bettie Ann Brigham, vice president of student development, to formulate a stricter policy regarding use of these areas.

The following is the new policy for the use of the gyms and fitness room.

Recreational Gym

For use by: the Eastern community, plus a maximum of two guests per person. Guests must always be accompanied by their Eastern host.

Hours: 7:00 a.m.-12:00 a.m.

Fitness Center

For use by: the Eastern community, plus a maximum of one guest per person. Guests must always be accompanied by their Eastern host.

Hours: 7:00 p.m.-10:00 p.m. Monday-Thursday.

Will be open during daytime hours when supervisors are available.

Main Gym

For use by: official athletic events, practicing and training Eastern athletes, confernences and special events, and the noon basketball group

Hours: 9:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m. Athletes may obtain special permission to use gym after hours, and team practices may occur outside hours.

Students, faculty and staff using these facilities must be prepared to present their E-card if asked by security or athletic staff.
