Eastern club Latinos Unidos (Latinos United), created a number of years ago, was revived last semester by Sophomores Ashley Molina and Yazlane Villegas. The club stands as a place for students of Latin and Spanish heritage to come together and share their cultures. Recognizing a need to bring students of different backgrounds together through Christ, Villegas and Molina formed the idea to start a combination Spanish-English worship service on campus.

The services began on Monday, February 24 and will continue every other week in Eagle Great Room from 10-11 am. “The worship service will always start and end with prayer. After starting with prayer, there will be a quick reading of The Word that The Lord has put for the people, and praise. Then end with prayer. You can expect to see The Lord’s presence flow in this worship,” says Molina.

The worship service is open to everyone, not specifically Spanish-speaking students. “‘Que Dios Sea El Todo En Todos,’ that means and reflects 1 Corinthians 15:28, “…that God may be all in all,”” says Molina. “We want to have God in the center of our club; therefore, we would love to worship by bringing two languages together and to introduce a part of our praise to Eastern.”

Latinos Unidos will also be offering Salsa lessons throughout the semester for students to commune and learn Spanish. In the past, the club has hosted discussion board conversations to speak about the Latino culture. “We also have Spanish nights where you will be able to learn the language through fun and games! It is a great way to pick up on the language,” says Villegas.
