For the past four years, Eastern has offered students multiple on-campus outlets for staying well, including massage therapy, chiropractic sessions, and an annual Wellness Fair. March 20 marks Eastern’s 4th annual Wellness Fair, an on-campus event for staff and students to gain information to promote a healthy lifestyle.
This year’s theme will be “Springtime in Paris,” and students can look forward to visiting with handfuls of local vendors. “In the last three years, we have had over 25 vendors attend. They bring samples and give away prizes,” says Patti McHugh, Eastern’s Benefits and Training Administrator in Human Resources. This year, over 25 vendors will be in attendance, providing information on healthy living habits from dental care to tobacco use, sleep apnea to concussions. “Some of the vendors in attendance are Bryn Mawr Hospital, a United HealthCare student insurance representative, Wegmans, a podiatrist, nutritionist, chiropractor, weight loss program and many more,” says Donna Crawley, Administrative Coordinator of the Department of Human Resources at Eastern. Free massages will also be available during the fair.
Human Resources hopes for another year of significant turnout. “In years past, approximately 200 members of our community have attended the fair,” says Crawley. The more the merrier, as McHugh and Crawley hope to extend the importance of wellness in the college environment to as many students as possible. “Eastern University feels very strongly about partnering with our faculty, staff and students in promoting a healthy lifestyle,” says Crawley. Crawley states that some easy tips for college students to stay healthy on campus include eating right, exercising and getting plenty of sleep.
The fair will take place from 10 AM to 2 PM on Thursday, March 20, in the recreational gym. Consider coming out to learn how to maintain a healthy lifestyle!
