Every fall semester, students wait in anticipation for one weekend full of fun and diverse events. Dia Del Este occurred over the weekend of October 27th-29th. As in years past, it hopped around various locations on campus. Despite the unseasonal Halloween snowstorm, Eastern students ventured out for a rousing good time.
The celebration kicked off on Thursday with Hoops Mania in the gym. Faculty and staff were invited to join students in this high energy event.
Friday hosted such activities as the Kea-Guffin Black Out Party and the Hainer Carnival. The annual Mr. Eastern contest drew a crowd, with sophomore Josiah Peffer taking home the crown. His robot sound effects, movements and beat boxing sealed him first place.
The fun continued on Saturday with the Sparrowhallberfest and the Doane Glow Obstacle Course. Free t-shirts were given away to the first 150 contestants of the always popular DJ Karaoke and Costume Contest.
Everyone involved in Dia Del Este succeeded in making this year even bigger and better than the last.
