Earlier this semester, Eastern University lost its head baseball coach.

Brian Burke left his position to accept an opening as head baseball coach at De Sales University in Central Valley, Pennsylvania.

“I respect and understand why he left, but it still sucks,” sophomore baseball player John Montague said.

Atheltic director Harry Gutelius shared similar feelings, but is excited about the upcoming season now that they have hired a new coaching staff.

Keith Curley, an Eastern alum, has been hired to take Burke’s place as head coach.

In addition to Curley, Matt Nadelhoffer will be coaching the baseball team this season.

“We are thrilled with our new coaches,” Gutelius said.

Curley brings substantial experience to the position; he previously coached football at Ursinus College.

“We have a nice team together,” Gutelius said and he looks forward to the upcoming season.

Coach Curley could not be reached for a comment.
