The smell of a fresh, hot croissant awaits all who enter Aux Petits Delices, a French bakery on Route 30, across the street from Gumdrops & Sprinkles. With soft pink walls, friendly staff and delicate-looking pastries, this small patisserie is a hidden gem amidst the streets of Wayne.
Aux Petits Delices was established in 1987 by Patrick Gauthron who is originally from Seurre, France. He creates the various cakes, breads and candies from scratch every day, giving that special “personal touch” that is so often sought after.
Not only is the food home-made, but it is also award-winning. Dozens of certificates decorate the walls, including the “2010 Best of Wedding Cakes.” And the perfectly placed desserts behind the glass just scream classiness.
A word to the wise, however: Aux Petits Delices can be somewhat pricey. A single plain croissant costs $1.80, a chocolate croissant goes for $2.30 and a full baguette can be as much as $2.50.
But if you are in the mood for a taste of France, then Aux Petits Delices is the place to go. Best of all, no plane ticket is necessary.
