The Eastern men’s soccer team is off to a 7-2 start, a very good record going into conference play, which kicks off this weekend. The Eagles travel to FDU-Florham this weekend before returning home on homecoming weekend to take on Manhattanville.
Once conference play starts it is important to play well and get wins since only the top four teams in the conference make the conference playoffs. The Eagles are a good blend of young talent and experience.
Two young freshmen, Jadon Ramsing and Andrew Ferman, have made an immediate impact on the team. Ramsing, who plays center mid for the Eagles, has gained instant respect as he has started and played well early this season. Ferman, who plays attacking mid, brings speed and physicality to the Eagles that helps balance the attack.
Eric Giovagnoli is the leading goal-scorer on the year with eight goals for the season. Giovagnoli brings an exciting amount of speed to the lineup. On defense the Eagles are led by senior Jair Saenz. Jair has been a four-year starter and is hoping to lead the Eagles to a great season.
Eastern Men’s Soccer has not won a conference title since 2007 and the whole team is hoping they can turn that around this year. Picked to finish first at the beginning of he season, the Eagles enter conference play with a target on their back. The Eagles are going to have to stay together and play hard each and every game forward for the team to be able to achieve their goal.
If you have free time homecoming weekend come down to Olsen field at 2:30pm to watch an exciting Eastern Men’s soccer team play against a talented Manhattanville team.
