Men’s Lacrosse Season Off To Stellar Start

The Men’s Lacrosse season is officially underway. Last season the Eagles had a successful season. They won their conference for the third straight year and made it to the NCAA tournament. Last season ended with a lost in the first round of the NCAA tournament. This year the Eagles enter the season being ranked 20th in the nation. This season they have started right where they left off. They are currently 5-0. They started off the season with a blowout against Swarthmore College. They won that game 18-8. They then went on to beat Haverford College 11-8. Their next game was against Aurora University. In that game the Eagles won by a score of 11-7. Their next game was an 11-8 victory against Virginia Wesleyan. Their most recent game was also an 11-8 victory. This time the victory was against McDaniel College.

Their next game will be on Saturday March 14th. This game might be their most difficult task of the regular season. They are playing a Gettysburg College team, who is ranked 8th in the nation. This is guaranteed to be no easy match. Even though this is not a conference game, it still holds huge implications on the Eagle’s season. The Eastern Eagles are the heavily favorited team to win their conference. That means that there is a strong possibility that this team will be able to make the NCAA tournament. A win against Gettysburg College will really help the team in the national rankings and in when it comes time to decide what seed teams get in the NCAA tournament. Also a win against Gettysburg will solidify them as one of the premier teams in division three college lacrosse.

Conference play begins April 1st, when the Eagles will play Kings College This year look for the Eagles to once again win the conference and make a run in the NCAA tournament.
