After winning three games in a row, the Eastern’s men’s basketball team went on a cold streak and lost three games in a row. They lost to Misericordia University 77-71. Then the Eagles lost to Desales University 90-77, and then lost to Delaware Valley College 94 -83. However, the Eagles ended that three-game losing streak with a very impressive win over Wilkes University.
Eastern trailed early in the game as they were down 34-18. The team then got it together and played much better for the rest of the game. They were able to pull off a remarkable comeback. A big reason the Eagles were able to come back and win was that they had an impressive 37 points off turnovers. The Eagles also shot very well from the free throw line, going 25 for 28. That’s a remarkable 89 percent from the line. A lot of the success from the line was thanks to Shaquan Turk. Turk went an impressive 17 for 18 from the line.
The Eagles defense in the second half was also a big reason why they won the game. The Eagles held Wilkes to 28 percent from the field in the second half of the game. The Eagles also had 12 steals during the game and forced Wilkes into 29 turnovers throughout the game.
Eastern also had a pretty good game offensively as well. Four players on the Eagles scored in double digits. Shaquan Turk led the team with 25 points. Malcom Garrison had 18 points, Austin James had 13 points, and Austin Carrol had 10 points.
Eastern will look to build from this performance and improve their 5-5 conference record, tied with Wilkes and Kings for the fourth and final spot in the conference tournament. They have four games remaining, all conference tilts.
