Letter to the Editor

I attended Regeneration, a student dance concert, on your campus on Friday, Dec. 4, 2015. I was happy to see the quality of your student dancers, and I admired the faculty that instructs at Eastern University. The dancers were not performing memorized steps. They put their hearts and souls into the performance.

The quality of their work could especially be seen in the Martha Graham-style set that was performed at the conclusion. It had been choreographed by the dancers and rehearsed in secret to surprise Dr. Bryant.

I am not sure why President Duffett wants to end dance as a major, considering that the program is successful and gaining enrollment. Perhaps the dancers could convince him to retain the dance program if they did the Martha Graham-style dance for him in his office.
