Super Bowl XLIX: Editor’s Picks

The Pick: Seahawks

The Score: 27-24

The MVP: Russell Wilson

The Analysis: When the Patriots lose in the playoffs, there are normally two constants: the opposing team pressures Tom Brady and runs the ball consistently enough to keep the Pats offense off the field. This game will be won on the lines and I see the Seahawks sacking Brady at least three times while Russell Wilson and Marshawn Lynch lead the rushing attack. It won’t be a blowout like last year’s “worst Super Bowl ever”, but I’ll take the Seahawks, with Wilson guiding the winning drive with some improvised flair.

The Pick: Patriots

The Score: 57- (-1)

The MVP: Sebastian Vollmer…who I like to pretend is my cousin.

The Analysis: I see the Patriots deflating at least seven footballs at the start of the game, leading to a very lopsided first half. The Seahawks will start golfing by the second half, hence the -1. Realizing that they are all way more talented at putting than punting, the Seahawks will all switch professions and still be handsomely paid.
