The men’s basketball team is off to a fantastic start.
The Eagles started the season in style, defeating Rosemont College 58-55 in the game’s final seconds. Since then, they have had a 111-84 victory against the visiting Lions from Penn State Abington. That victory came during the Nate Ware Invitational on Friday, November 18th. The following afternoon, the Eagles survived a scare against the Lightning of Lehman College to win the Nate Ware Invitational for the second straight season.
On Tuesday, November 22, we were dealt our first blow: the loss to the Hood College Blazers in overtime. The final score was 88-90.
But then, while many Eastern students were still on Thanksgiving break, the Eagles won yet another impressive victory. This time, they trumped against the Bears of Ursinus College in Aston, Penn. They won that game 76-68 and held a lead as high as 15 points during their dominating victory.
“It has been great to win games. I think we are getting better and have a long way to go and a lot of work to do,” senior Mike Donatoni said. “I feel good about our success through the season.”
The Eagles have their work cut out for them, however. There are five remaining games before the end of the calendar year. Two are road games and one is a conference opponent. Coach Nate Stewart and key players like Alex Nelson and Donald Kaiser seem confident to take on any admirable foe.
