To celebrate National Jazz and Poetry Month, Eastern’s Friends of the Library presents
a month of snazzy events!
Friday, April 5th
At 10:30 in the Upper Atrium of the Warner Library, The Friends of the Library is showing “The Cotton Club.” Starring Richard Gere and Nicholas Cage, “The Cotton Club” embarks on the journey of jazz music through 1930s Harlem. Free popcorn and beverages will be provided. Students are encouraged to bring blankets and pillows.
Saturday, April 13th
At 8:30 p.m. in the Jammin Java, a coffee house will be held, featuring music from professional jazz pianist, Joe Holt. Between sets, faculty, alum, and students will be doing poetry readings. Presenters include: Nancy Thomas, Jenn Schifano and Angeley Crawford. Having appeared on over 25 albums, 9 as his own label, Holt performance will be grounded in the historical foundations of solo piano jazz. Students can expect a free drink from the coffee bar, compliments of the Friends of the Library, and snacks will be available.
Friday, April 19th
The Friends of the Library will host their annual dinner. Faculty members, Theresa Moyer and David Bryant, will perform. If interested in attending, contact Joy Dlugosz at jdlugosz@eastern.edu.
