Senior infielder Dan Garcia has made some noise for the baseball team this season with his consistent bat and solid defense.
Garcia’s efforts earned him Freedom Conference Player of the Week for the week of March 29 to April 4. He is the first baseball player in program history to earn this honor in the Freedom Conference.
Garcia cracked a two-run home run, which secured an 8-7 victory over King’s on March 28 and the team’s second Freedom Conference victory of the season.
He finished the day scoring two runs and collecting two additional hits.
Garcia performed his best this week in a home contest against Delaware Valley College during a conference doubleheader.
The day started out rough for the team, but late in the game Garcia’s two-run double tied the score, putting the Eagles in a good position to execute the comeback.
In the second game, Garcia hit a two-run shot to deep center in the bottom of the first inning, putting his team ahead.
Garcia put on a show for the home crowd, tallying eight hits in only nine chances at the plate. His batting brought home seven players and he collected 13 total bases by the end of the game.
Garcia also made several key defensive stops, killing Delaware Valley’s hope for a rally. Garcia’s efforts helped the team cruise to a 12-1 win.
Garcia leads the team in home runs, with three, and RBI’s, recording 20 thus far in the season.
