Eastern’s women’s basketball team is off to a great start. They began the season 7-1, with many impressive victories. They started off the season beating Cabrini by a score of 72-61. Eastern’s lone loss this season came at the hands of Lebanon Valley. They lost that game 59-74. Of all the games so far this season only one game had a margin of victory in the single digits. That game was against Delaware Valley College. Eastern won this game by a score of 74-65. All the other games, except against Cabrini, have been blowouts. Not only are the Eastern Eagles winning games, but they are clearly the better team in all the games that they have won.

Many players on the Eastern Eagles have been putting up impressive numbers. The Eagles have two players almost averaging a double-double per game. Megan Nowak is averaging 17.4 points per game, and 8.4 rebounds per game. Emily Lavin is averaging 16.6 points per game and 9.3 rebounds per game. Emily Lavin also leads the team in blocks with 19 blocks so far this season. Gina DiDomenico is also averaging points in the double digits, an average of 11.8 points per game.

Starting off 7-1, and 2-0 in conference play, the Eagles look like a team that has to be one of the favorites to win the conference this year. The Eagles have a big test on Wednesday night against 7th ranked University of Scranton. This will most likely be the Eagles biggest test of the season. If the Eagles can come out on top, they may even have the potential to be ranked nationally.

The Eagles have only five non-conference games left. After that it is all conference games. Their conference record will be the most important stat of the season as it decides what seed they will get in the conference tournament, or if they make the conference playoffs. So far this season the Eagles have a pretty good chance of going to the conference playoffs and possibly winning it.
