The Eastern Men’s and Women’s Golf teams has had some real positive successes behind them over the past several years. Just this past year, the Woman’s Golf Team won the MAC Championship. The Men’s Golf Team has come in second place for the MAC Championship two years in a row. This year their team is working hard to hopefully climb one more sport to win the MAC Championship.

The woman’s team this past fall season had some positives that they hope to build off of going into the spring season. In the fall, the women had a pair of second place finishes at the Country Club of Harrisburg and at their home tournament at St. David’s Country Club. The women’s team has many players that can compete for them and this depth is what helped them win the MAC Conference in the past. Sofia Frantz Junior from Red Bluff, CA, Summer Frantz Junior from Red Bluff, CA., Jaclyn D’Angelo a sophomore from Spring City, PA and freshman Rachel Morton from Cleburne, Texas were all within three strokes of each other for their season averages. Alyse Headley, a sophomore from Mount Laurel, N.J. and junior Rachel Lozzi from Bel Air, Maryland were great teammates on and off the course. The women’s team is coached by first year Head Coach Drew Patterson and Assistant Coach Ed “Chief” Smith. Patterson recently graduated from West Chester, where he had a stellar collegiate golf career of his own.

The men’s golf team, like the girls, has a solid lineup that could have anyone be the low player each and every tournament. Having players that could all shoot low is a great key to winning tournaments. Junior Sal Tortora is the captain of the men’s team and is coming off of a strong fall season. Sophomore Colin Burden also had a strong fall season for the Eagles, as he will be looking to keep improving going into the spring. Sophomore Sean Moran had an up and down fall season with some good rounds and some bad. If Moran can just limit the big numbers he will be a great asset for the team. The Eagles this year also had a large number of freshmen. This group included Nicky Marrollo, Max Moore and Cam Clark. These men are also led by Head Coach Drew Patterson and Assistant Coach Ed “Chief” Smith.

With such a plethora of talent in the Men’s and Woman’s Golf Teams, we can expect an amazing season. Be sure to come support Eastern’s Golf Teams!
