The EU Men’s Soccer team now stands with an overall record of 6-1-1, surrendering only to Swarthmore College on Sept. 14 with a score of 0-1. On Sept. 24, the Eagles defeated Eagle Road rival Cabrini University with a final score of 5-1. Cade Harmon finished with two goals, while Brian Plucinsky, Sean Dougherty and Jake Sankey added one each. Goalkeeper Quentin Keibler has faced 90 shots this season and only allowed seven goals. Keibler has assisted the Eagles in three shut-out games.
In the Stockton University Tournament, EU Volleyball defeated Stockton University and Haverford College in their first two matches. In the first match of the day, senior Stephanie Elechko earned her 1,000th career kill. On the second day of the tournament, the Eagles gave up their first loss of the season to the University of Mary Washington. EUVB still stands with an overall record of 14-1.
EU Cross Country runners Greg Thomas and Kierra Zack both earned the title of MAC Runner of the Week for Men’s and Women’s Cross Country, respectively. In the Messiah Invitational on Sept. 24, EU Men’s Cross Country finished in seventh place. Thomas finished first for EU with a time of 28:53.94, while first-year Bryton Henry finished second at 29:22.28. The EU Women’s team finished in sixth place overall. In the 6K race, first-year Megan Bernotas finished first for the Eagles with a time of 25:15.15. Elainah Boyles and Jordan Carvell, also first-year students, came in second and third for EU, respectively.
The EU Women’s Soccer team has a three-game winning streak, which began with a 6-0 win against Rosemont College on Sept. 17. EUWS is now 4-5 overall. Emily Cole leads the Eagles in scoring with eight goals so far in the 2016 season. Alondra Cervantes has three total goals for the season.
EU Field Hockey has had a difficult start to the season, scoring only eight goals in their first seven games. Their overall record is now 1-6. Goalkeeper Nicole Berger has faced 147 total shots so far in the 2016 season and has a save percentage of approximately 81.8.
At Hershey Country Club on Sept. 20, the EU Men’s Golf team finished with a score of 306, the fifth best score in EU team history. This was also the first time in team history that each member of the Men’s Golf team finished with scores in the 70s. Andrew Barbin led the Eagles with a score of 75, while teammates Brady Erb, Nate Brown, Colin Burden and Sean Moran finished with scores of 76, 77, 78 and 78, respectively.
In the Bridgewater Invitational, the EU Women’s Golf team finished with a program record score of 325. Paige Hollingsworth led the Eagles with a score of 79, while Summer Frantz finished with a career-best score of 80. Sofia Frantz and Jaclyn D’Angelo finished with a pair of 83s.
