For the first time ever, Apple Inc. unveiled two iPhones at the same time. The iPhone 5s follows the traditional updates of the iPhone generation, whereas the iPhone 5c is the plastic version of the phone which features five colorful options. Both phones, however, have a lot to offer the consumer.
The iPhone 5s is an improvement of the original iPhone, and it has a multitude of features which far surpass its predecessor. Its metal cases come in three colors: gold, silver, and gray. The home button is a fingerprint scanner that can take the place of the original passcode. The camera has 8 megapixels and a larger screen to accompany it. It also has a sensor that is used for the finger scanning aforementioned plus exercise apps that help keep track of calories lost. The iPhone 5s is for those who want more out of the iPhone experience. It sales for $199 with a two year contract.
As for the iPhone 5c, it is the 5s within a colorful plastic casing, but with less special features. This phone would be a better match to those who want the basic iPhone functions. The home button on the iPhone 5c does not have touch ID, and the camera on this one doesn’t include smart flash or slo-mo mode. The motto for the 5c is that they are “for the colorful” as there are five colors to choose from: green, blue, pink, yellow and white. The 5c sales for $99 with a two year contract.
Things that a buyer should consider prior to buying one of these phones is the price of both. With the 5c, you’d only save a hundred dollars, while receiving less features. Also, your preference to a metal shell over the plastic shell. Some people may not be open to the idea of having the plastic shell in fear that it will break more easily than the metal one. The 5c, however, holds up better than expected for a plastic shell.
For me, the iPhone 5s wins five out of five stars. It fixes all the bugs of the iPhone 4, and it’s the better choice for the latest technology. The iPhone 5c wins four out of five stars. This phone seems to have been created with the intention to attract a wider audience, those first time iPhone users who may not want every new gadget, but a fun color. Overall, both iPhones have been aptly updated and either would be a good investment.
