On October 25, 2024 from 6 to 9 p.m., the Walton Library staff transformed an ordinary library into a spine-chilling mini golf adventure. Librarian Robyn Cunningham wanted to create an opportunity for students who were beginning to stress as they neared the end of the semester. She worked with librarians Kathy Hatch, Chelsea Post, Caroline Coriell and Ann Schwelm to make this event come to life. The event was a hit with 60 people attending.
This course was a thrilling twist on the classic game of mini golf. Players had to navigate the first floor of the library through haunted landscapes filled with eerie decorations, glowing ghosts and ominous creatures. Each hole presents unique challenges, from winding paths through haunted bookshelves to obstacles such as glowing spider webs and monstrous creatures lurking in the shadows. This immersive experience combined friendly competition with a dash of fright, making it a perfect activity for students and staff looking to embrace the Halloween spirit.
Prizes were given out to first, second and third place winners. At the end of the night, two people had tied for first and second place. Robyn Cinnginham gave the four people an option of which first and second place prizes they wanted.
