Fall is the season of fashion weeks, when high-class designers and fashion lovers alike flock to some of the world’s largest cities to see what is new in the world of fashion.

But the fashions on the runway are quite ostentatious and are not meant to actually be worn as everyday wear. Rather, they are meant to lend a hand to demonstrate the season’s hottest colors and fabrics.

Big, chunky sweaters are back and better than ever. Pull over sweaters and cardigans are perfect for layering on those pesky fall days that start out with sweater weather in the morning and by lunch have you wondering why summer has yet to retire until next year.

These sweaters are perfect in classic colors like navy, grey and black but are also perfect in this season’s hottest colors of maroon, mustard yellow and teal. They can be worn more casually with leggings or jeans and the ever-popular booties, or they can be dressed up by going over cute dresses. Favorites can be found in a variety of colors and prices at stores like H&M, Forever 21, J.Crew and American Eagle.

Leather jackets are also popular this season and can be paired with scarves and bauble necklaces. Leather jackets are perfect for those nights when the temperature drops pretty low, but you still want your outfit to look on point.

Oxfords and penny loafers are also sticking around for another season. Stores like H&M and Bass have the perfect shoes that can be taken from fall, to winter, to spring and will stay in good condition for a long time.

For those days where a dress just seems necessary, sweater dresses are a must-have. Sweater dresses can be worn alone on the warmer fall days or with tights underneath as it starts to get colder in the later months of fall.

As for men’s fashion, prep is back, and that means oxford button-downs are sticking around. As a staple of men’s fashion, the oxford can be worn alone, with a vest or with a blazer. Blazers can go from dress-down to dress-up any day and are perfect for all occasions. Go to men’s stores, including H&M and J.Crew.
